Anne K. Wilson

Duckor Metzger & Wynne, APLC Shareholder Anne K. Wilson represents individuals and businesses in business, real estate, privacy and cybersecurity compliance and employment law disputes, and she also provides employment counseling.

Anne is DMW’s Employment Practice Group chair. Her employment law practice includes defending employers in a variety of workplace related-disputes, including wage and hour claims, representative actions under the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), class actions, wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disputes over misappropriation of proprietary information and workplace privacy. She also advises employers throughout California on personnel issues and drafts employee handbooks, policies, accommodation procedures, leave policies and notices, employment agreements, separation agreements, arbitration agreements, confidentiality agreements, workplace violation prevention plans and other employment-related contracts.

Prior to attending the University of San Diego School of Law, Anne worked in the human resources department for a large corporation, acquiring hands-on experience in day-to-day HR activities. This included investigating sexual harassment and discrimination complaints and responding to complaints filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state agencies. Anne also worked in management positions where she was responsible for hiring, employee training and compliance, counseling and progressive discipline, as well as termination of employment.

As part of the Privacy & Cybersecurity practice group, Anne advises companies on compliance with legal requirements for handling personally identifiable information (PII), protected health information (PHI) and other confidential or sensitive information accessed, used or maintained during business operations. She also supports federal contractors and subcontractors in adhering to cybersecurity requirements imposed by the Department of Defense, helping them implement CMMC-compliant standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with NIST SP 800-171 controls, the FAR Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Rule and related DFARS and agency-specific cyber clauses.

Anne represents residential property owners and property management groups in various real property issues, including pre-litigation evaluation of property rights, landowner obligations and neighbor disputes. Her successes include earning a favorable jury verdict in a residential view trial. The litigation centered on claims that a row of trees planted by the downhill neighbor that blocked scenic views of the Pacific Ocean constituted a “spite fence” and private nuisance.
